Job Description:  Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive HSSE management process including Operational audits, corrective action tracking, MOC, Training and incident investigation.  Assist in the preparation of HSSE procedures and participate in HSSE training for plant personnel and provide ongoing HSSE and PSM support for the
facility once operational.  Works closely with plant personnel to identify risk and develop and implement control methodology. Provides review of Operations, Maintenance, and Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures for Safety, PSM and Environmental compliance.  Perform audits/inspections/ environmental surveillance and use findings to target coaching, communications and/or training to achieve consistent application, performance improvements, and regulatory compliance.  Audits and monitors permits including hot work, confined space entries and lockout/tagout permits.  Meet HSSE objectives and comply with all relevant laws and policies.

Job Description:  Assists supervision and management with Explosive Safety concerns, to include Process Safety Management (PSM), Explosive Site Planning Contractor Owned – Contractor Operated (COCO) and Government Owned-Contractor Operated (GOCO) facilities.  Provide interpretation and guidance concerning the application of explosive safety regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.  Responsible for conducting and documenting illness and injury prevention, risk assessment and mitigation, incident investigations, hazardous materials communication and awareness, as well as safety and environmental programs compliance.  Conduct explosives safety site plan documentation packages for submission to the Administration Contracting Officer (ACO) and Procuring Contracting Officer (PCO), for final approval in accordance with DOD 4145.26-M  Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and be able to work with a team to mitigate any hazards associated with the explosives process.  Must be able to perform root cause analyses and corrective action on explosive safety disciplines, where applicable.

Qualifications:  Must possess excellent communication skills, have a generalist safety background in a manufacturing environment and have experience in Explosive Safety programs. Full understanding of all elements of the Process Safety management standard.  Experience with communicating explosives safety policy to higher level leadership.  Overall generalist in EHS disciplines.  Experience in implementing and sustaining an Explosive Safety program  in a large manufacturing environment.  BS in Safety or related and personnel management experience and 10+ years ehs experience in manufacturing.

Job Summary

Responsible for developing and implementing tools and management systems necessary to ensure facility compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) rules.  Includes Process Hazard Analysis, Operator Procedures and Training, Mechanical Integrity, Management of Change, and HAZMAT Training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for development and maintenance of process safety management program and risk management plan to include a written plan of action regarding employee training and orientation.
  2. Lead plant Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and ensure documentation and follow up is completed.
  3. Develop and implement plan emergency action plan.  The plan must include procedures for handling small releases.
  4. Maintain and perform regular safety audits to assure that the plant environment is safe and hazard-free.  Areas to include: fire extinguisher inspections, ladder inspections, emergency lighting inspections, fall protection inspections, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, chemical labeling, confined space signage, and boiler inspections.
  5. Scheduling of all required inspections and documentation of compliance for mechanical integrity, pressure release valve replacement, and preventative maintenance of NH3 systems.
  6. Ensure that appropriate safety orientation and technical training is completed by all employees, to include safety work practices, emergency evacuation and response and safety procedures.
  7. Maintain records for all safety documentation including the preparation of all safety training materials, and maintaining safety entries into computer database.
  8. Establish and implement written procedures for the ongoing integrity of process equipment, particularly those components which contain and control a covered process under the PSM program.
  9. Responsible for leading investigations of incidents which did result or could reasonably have resulted in catastrophic releases of covered chemicals. 
  10. Complete compliance audits to certify we are in compliance with process safety requirements.  Prompt response to audit findings and documentation that deficiencies are corrected. 
  11. Set and track goals and measures for PSM program improvement.

  1. Minimum 5+ years experience in a PSM regulated facility.
  2. Knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
  3. Ability to interpret complex regulations.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to direct and lead EHS at one of their largest, flagship facilities.  Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will develop and implement Safety and Health processes to ensure a safe and injury-free work environment. You will provide leadership and direction to ensure the complete implementation of the safety program, and coordinate efforts of plant personnel for continual improvement under this program. Working closely with corporate and plant management, you will work to shorten implementation windows with improved success rates and in a spirit of engaging best practices. As the plant Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading the safety effort through development of pro-active programs designed to generate excitement, improve participation and sustain motivation and focus throughout the facility. You will effectively communicate and recruit plant employees to champion efforts and formulate culture change to achieve world-class safety results. You will interact and effectively communicate with hourly personnel on the floor to give/receive feedback to address safety issues, generate ideas, make recommendations to management staff and follow up with implementation of improvements. As a valued business partner you will have the opportunity to significantly impact the business and assist department heads achieve safety excellence within their departments. You will be responsible for training and coaching managers, supervisors and plant employees in safety programs, practices and other safety-related activities. You will conduct analysis to provide information to management to help identify problem areas and safety trends and develops action plans to address findings. This is a highly visible role that has both strategic and tactical components and offers long term growth potential.

Qualifications:   BS Safety, Environmental Science or related.  Safety certifications a plus.  6+ yrs Safety experience in a manufacturing setting. Leading safety in a multi-cultural work force. Driving change in a fast pace environment.  Managing direct reports.  Large plant experience (over 500 employees). Strong team player.   Strong communication (verbal and written) as well as PC Skills (including statistical tools). Strong reasoning, problem solving and organizational skills. Strong OSHA knowledge. Food and/or consumer products (a plus). PSM / Process Safety Management (a plus). Lean manufacturing, six sigma or other process improvement methodologies (a plus).

 

 

Position:  Manager Environmental Manager systems and Quality

Location:  Eastern Nebraska

Job Description:  This is more of a strategic position with several direct reports.  The position reports to the Director of EMS and Quality.  This person will be responsible for all aspects of QMS and EMS including, but not limited to, directing, planning, implementing, reviewing and reporting of the management systems.  Direct and coordinate training to all employees on all aspects related to the QMS/EMS including but not limited to training of the standards, procedures, etc. Keeping up to date with all standards and implementing necessary changes. Coordinate and direct external 3rd party registration/surveillance audits. Administration of Document Control including but not limited to hardware/software for proper creation/modification, communication, and review of internal/external documents. Supervise QMS & EMS staff.  Administration of the internal audit program including developing internal audit plan, coordinate training and development of internal auditors, performing audits to plan, and on-going communication/reporting of results.

Qualifications:  The ideal candidate must have experience in ISO 9000, 14000 and TS 16949 from a manufacturing operation, internal or external auditing experience and a BS in Environmental Sciences or related.

 

 

Position:  Director EHS

Location:  Southern AR

Company management views the company’s businesses in three segments related to its set of core competencies: Avionics & Controls, Sensors & Systems, and Advanced Materials.  The company operates manufacturing facilities in Twelve U.S. states, Canada, China, France, Germany, Mexico and the United Kingdom ranging in size from 40,000 to 500,000 square feet.  The company is the producer of the largest and most varied line of combustible ordnance and countermeasure products in the world. They are dedicated to serving the expendable countermeasure and combustible ordnance needs of customers worldwide.  The plant where this position will be located has approx 250 employees and is also responsible for a plant in TN.  Limited travel. 

Job Description:  Assists supervision and management with Explosive Safety concerns, to include Process Safety Management (PSM), Explosive Site Planning Contractor Owned – Contractor Operated (COCO) and Government Owned-Contractor Operated (GOCO) facilities.  Provide interpretation and guidance concerning the application of explosive safety regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.  Responsible for conducting and documenting illness and injury prevention, risk assessment and mitigation, incident investigations, hazardous materials communication and awareness, as well as safety and environmental programs compliance.  Conduct explosives safety site plan documentation packages for submission to the Administration Contracting Officer (ACO) and Procuring Contracting Officer (PCO), for final approval in accordance with DOD 4145.26-M  Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and be able to work with a team to mitigate any hazards associated with the explosives process.  Must be able to perform root cause analyses and corrective action on explosive safety disciplines, where applicable.

Qualifications:  Must possess excellent communication skills, have a generalist safety background in a manufacturing environment and have experience in Explosive Safety programs. Full understanding of all elements of the Process Safety management standard.  Experience with communicating explosives safety policy to higher level leadership.  Overall generalist in EHS disciplines.  Experience in implementing and sustaining an Explosive Safety program  in a large manufacturing environment.  BS in Safety or related and personnel management experience and 10+ years ehs experience in manufacturing.
